The World Karate Association (WKA) has a list to identify expected levels of behaviour. This is not an exhaustive list but a suggestion of what is and is not considered acceptable to assist us to fulfil our aims and ambitions. Any breach of these rules could result in disciplinary action been taken against the perpetrator.

1. Respect all instructors and fellow members.
2. Respect of property belonging to The Academy and other members.
3. We will not accept any discriminatory practice.
4. We will not tolerate any foul or abusive language.
5. We will not tolerate any bullying or aggressive behaviour.
6. Fighting outside the lessons will not be tolerated, and fighting within lessons requires the
acceptance of WAKO rules.
7. No deliberate damage to club or other member’s personal property will be accepted.
8. Payment of fees must be on time.
9. Minimum notice to cancel a private lesson and transfer to another time/day is 48 hours. If the
Chief Executive has not received this notice the cost of the private lesson is non-transferable and non-refundable.
10. All members are required to have an up to date licence.
11. All students must use appropriate protection wear for sparring.
12. All students must use the appropriate equipment for bag and focus mit work.
13. Equipment purchased outside Zen-Shin Martial Arts Academy must be checked by a senior
instructor to ensure it meets our Health and Safety standards as identified by WAKO.
14. The Chief Executives decision is final.
15. All new members will pay using the budget monthly payment system.
16. Fund raising will only be allowed with the Chief Executives approval and agreement.
17. Only club gear is allowed to be worn for lessons.
18. Full uniform is required for grading purposes.
19. It is the member responsibility to keep personal information held by Zen-Shin updated. This
includes medical information and changes in condition.
20. This list is not exhaustive but gives a flavour as to what is acceptable behaviour. Individual
issues may need to be resolved as they occur.
